Booking a yacht charter with Nautilia Yachting is straightforward — we keep the process simple, transparent, and fully tailored to your trip. The guide below walks you through each step, from your initial enquiry to the moment your charter is officially confirmed.
How to Book Your Yacht Charter in 4 Steps
Whether you are booking a bareboat or a skippered charter, the booking process follows the same four steps:
Step 1 — Send Your Request
Tell us a few key details so we can build the right proposal for you:
- Your full name and contact details
- Preferred dates or charter period (departure and return)
- Desired sailing area
- Number of crew (including skipper, if bareboat)
- Preferred type and size of yacht
- Any special requests — dietary needs, equipment, occasion, etc.
Most charters in Greece run Saturday to Saturday for one, two, or three weeks. One-way charters are possible on request — just let us know in your enquiry.
Step 2 — Receive Our Proposal
You will receive a tailored proposal within 24 hours, built around the information you shared. If something is missing, unclear, or needs adjustment, simply reply and we will refine it — there is no limit on revisions.
Step 3 — Option (Hold a Yacht) or Proceed to Booking
If our proposal matches what you are looking for, you can move straight to booking. If you need a little more time to decide, you can ask us to place an Option — a temporary hold on the yacht so no one else can book it while you finalise your plans.
Options typically last up to 5 days. During peak season (July, August, September) the available hold period may be shorter. If you do not confirm within the option window, the hold is automatically released.
Step 4 — Confirm and Pay the Deposit
To confirm the booking, send us an email with your final charter details — dates, crew count, base, yacht, extras, and any special requirements. We will then:
- Confirm the booking immediately
- Issue you a unique Charter Reference Number (CRN) — please quote this in future correspondence
- Email you the Charter Party Agreement and all payment information
- Send a hard copy by post on request
The booking becomes official once your initial deposit (typically 50% of the total charter price) is received — this should be made within the 5-day option window mentioned above.

Insurance Coverage
Every yacht in our fleet — like all legal charter yachts operating in Greek waters — is fully insured. Standard coverage includes:
- Third party and passenger civil liability: minimum €500,000 per accident
- Damage liability (third party and passengers' yacht): €150,000 per accident
- Sea pollution liability: €150,000
A security deposit is also required at embarkation — this covers any damage caused during the charter that is not covered by insurance, and is refunded in full at the end of the trip if no damage has occurred.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation fees are calculated based on the number of days between the date of cancellation and the charter start date:
- 1 to 45 days before departure — 100% of the total charter price is due, plus 25% of any skipper or hostess arrangements.
- 46 to 90 days before departure — 50% of the total charter price is due.
- 91+ days before departure — 30% of the total charter price is due.
If the yacht is successfully re-chartered for the same period under the same conditions, the cancellation fee is refunded, less a €300 administration fee.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I charter for less than a week?
Most charters run Saturday to Saturday for one, two, or three weeks. Shorter charters may be possible during the shoulder season — just ask.
What if my travel dates are flexible?
Share a date range in your enquiry and we will suggest the best availability and pricing within it. Flexible dates often unlock better rates.
Do I need a sailing license?
For a bareboat charter, yes — a recognised skipper's certificate is required. If you don't hold one, a skippered or crewed charter is the perfect alternative.
What is included in the charter price?
The charter price typically covers the yacht itself, basic equipment, dinghy and outboard, and bedding. Fuel, port fees, provisions, and any skipper or hostess costs are additional — we will outline everything clearly in your proposal.
